In Chinese culture, the moon is not just an astronomical body but also carries many symbolic meanings and cultural traditions. The moon often symbolizes family reunion and affection, especially during the Mid-Autumn Festival, when the full moon represents the completeness of the family and the wish for togetherness. This festival is one of the most important family celebrations in China, where people gather with their families and share mooncakes. In ancient poetry, the moon is frequently associated with beautiful women, symbolizing freshness, purity, and elegance. The waxing and waning of the moon reflect the passage of time and the change of seasons. In the traditional lunar calendar, the moon's cycles are used to calculate time and seasons, affecting agricultural production and daily life. The moon holds a significant place in Chinese mythology. For example, the legend of Chang'e flying to the moon tells the story of Chang'e, who, in search of immortality, swallowed an elixir and ascended to the moon. The moon represents femininity, symbolizing the yin aspect of the yin-yang balance. In Chinese philosophy, the moon's softness and tranquility contrast with the sun's strength and dynamism, reflecting the harmony and balance of the universe.
The embroidery on the earrings is 100% hand-stitched by Miao women, with the embroidered pieces all produced before 1979, known in China as "Old Embroidery." The colors in the embroidery come from natural dyes without any color-fixing agents, so they should not come into contact with water.
Each pair of earrings is unique, and the embroidered pieces cannot be reproduced. The bases are handcrafted by artisans, which may result in some unevenness. The base material is Miao silver, primarily composed of white copper with a low silver content. Please be mindful of this before purchasing.
